Opportunities for Africans
The Swedish Institute is launching exclusive traineeships at Swedish companies in selected countries – an opportunity to grow professionally, expand your global network, and strengthen your future career. The Swedish Institute (SI) aims to offer more than access to world-class education – we strive to provide a comprehensive platform for building future leaders.
The purpose of the traineeships is to provide current and future alumni with the opportunity to put their academic knowledge into practice, develop their professional skills and create valuable contact with future employers and local Swedish business networks. The trainees will receive a monthly scholarship, and a travel grant is provided for those residing in Sweden.
You are welcome to apply if you meet all of the following criteria:
Citizens of the following countries are welcome to apply: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Kosovo, Mexico, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and Vietnam.
Each traineeship is structured to ensure meaningful professional growth. You will work on tasks and projects aligned with your academic field and long-term ambitions, giving you the chance to apply your Swedish education in a hands-on, international setting. Every trainee will have a designated supervisor, who will serve as your local support and your main point of contact with the Swedish Embassy and SI.
Monthly scholarship payments will be provided by SI. The exact amount varies depending on the country and follows the local traineeship level. All monthly payments will be disbursed in one transfer at the end of August or the beginning of September. Payments will be made to your bank account, preferably a Swedish one. You will also receive a one-time travel grant of 15,000 SEK. The travel grant is for those currently in Sweden, traveling back to their home country for the traineeship.
You are responsible for arranging your own accommodation during the traineeship. We recommend starting your planning as early as possible. SI cannot provide housing support.
